The 1st Plenary meeting of Europe’s Rail Joint Undertaking Flagship Project 5 TRANS4M-R was the occasion for numerous representatives of the 71 consortium members to meet in Munich. The event was hosted by Knorr-Bremse and organized together with Deutsche Bahn and ÖBB.

Board members of Knorr-Bremse AG, DB Cargo AG and ÖBB-Holding AG welcomed the participants to Munich and talked about the challenges of rail freight in Europe. ER JU representatives highlighted ambitious the projects goals and how essential a transformation of rail freight transportation is to achieve the European goals for the reduction of CO2 emissions.

Following the speeches, several panel discussions with experts from all partners of FP5-TRANS4M-R took place where more technical details were discussed such as the challenges of DAC authorization. The necessary cooperation of all project partners was highlighted to realize the project’s goals. “We can only win together with joint forces” stated Molley Williams, the FP5-TRANS4M-R project manager and DB representative.

This Plenary Meeting was a great opportunity for FP5-TRANS4M-R members and experts to meet in person, get to know each other better and tuning in to the challenge we are facing.
